MY PRIORITIES FOR WARD 5

1. SAFE AND WELL-MAINTAINED WARD 5
  • Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and 360 CCTV camera
  • Strategic Infrastructure Improvements based on municipal data
  • Faster coordination between City departments to respond to community concerns
  • Collaborate with City departments to ensure a proactive approach to safety and maintenance in Ward 5
  • Ward 5 absorbs 100% of the airport's noise, traffic, and structural wear, but City Hall takes the money and spends it elsewhere. I will fight to mandate that a fixed percentage of Pearson’s PILT funds be legally locked into a dedicated Ward 5 Infrastructure and Community Fund to fix local roads, fund Ward 5 community centers, and mitigate local impacts.
2. SMART AND SAFE TRANSPORTATION
  • Restore Route 104 Derry Express to provide faster, more reliable transit across Ward 5
  • Introduce evening and weekend service on Route 57 Courtneypark
  • Improve Route 42 Derry scheduling to better meet the needs of residents, workers, and students
  • Traffic calming measures in residential neighbourhoods
  • Road-sharing strategy for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians
  • Improved parking management
  • Improved inner transit network
  • Heated bus stops
  • Advocate for Direct Buses to York and UFT Mississauga from Malton
3. STRONG COMMUNITY INVESTMENT
  • Collaborate closely with Peel District School Board and the Ward 5 school trustee to support all schools across the ward, while analyzing data to determine whether additional resources are needed within individual schools or the ward as a whole.
  • Strong investment towards Mental Health Support Services
  • Create an online application for citizens to track the progress of their complaints.
  • Investment in new Recreational Spaces
  • Year-round funded youth and senior programs
  • Fair and equitable free-use scheduling
  • After-school homework & mentorship programs
  • Advocate for Local Business during City's bidding process
4. LOCAL ECONOMY & AFFORDABILITY
  • Advocate for streamlined minor business permits
  • Reduce red tape for entrepreneurs, straightforward paperwork
  • Advocate policies that ease cost-of-living pressures
  • Improve safety & beautification of the ward
  • Support local businesses for local employment
  • I will advocate for fair and sustainable arrangements between the City, the Province, and major local institutions that protect municipal revenues while creating meaningful economic opportunities for residents. I will work to establish stronger local employment and training partnerships, ensuring that major employers contribute to workforce development and local hiring. Where organizations fail to meet their commitments to the community or their financial obligations, I will support the City in pursuing all appropriate measures to protect taxpayers and ensure accountability.
5. HOUSING STABILITY & PROPERTY STANDARDS
  • Advocate for a Mississauga model inspired by the environmental scan
  • Express building permit
  • Reduce red tape to legalize secondary units
  • Advocate for the continuity of the Ward 5 Neighbourhood Standards Program
  • Reduce property-related complaints (currently approx. 5,400)
6. ACCOUNTABLE LOCAL LEADERSHIP
  • Create Ward 5 Business, Youth, Senior & Faith Advisory Committees
  • Monthly commit meetings to discuss issues and hold me accountable
  • Twice a year, Ward 5 progress reports
  • Quarterly open town halls and issue-tracking transparency
  • Structured community input before major ward decisions
